Through our Dance Leaders courses- you have the opportunity to undertake a unique accredited programme developed by G-Expressions alongside Sports Leaders UK that will equip you to plan, prepare, and assist dance sessions.

Through this, you will also be provided with the tools, to gain essential knowledge and confidence in the practical skills that come with leadership but also within topics such as safeguarding, health and safety, working with other professionals and your peers.

Within a range of different settings, using G-Expressions members as your mentors; the dance leaders course aims to provide you with both the skills and confidence to become develop leaders- where you can then continue your journey, to go out and teach in your chosen communities.

When and where is the course?

Sessions take place at the University of South Wales in Newport, in a high quality studio with sprung wooden floors and professional equipment. Courses usually take place during half-term and summer holidays.

Timings for each course will be shared at the booking stage. You can expect to undertake:

Level 1: 45 hours across one week
Level 2: 59 hours across two weeks
Level 3: 140 hours over four months

What will be expected of me?

As a participant, you will be expected to complete all work tasks and have full attendance during the course/s. Thus, be committed to your development as a dancer and your personal growth as a leader .

You will need previous experience of taking part in dance courses or classes and to be familiar with the basics of dance and movement (depending on course entry).

What happens after the course?

You will be able to progress from Level 1 up to Level 3, at which point you will be qualified to lead your own dance classes.

Along the way, you will become part of the GX network where you will have access to opportunities to develop your skills further and meet other young dancers and dance professionals.

Most Dance Leaders graduates go on to a career in dance, but many also choose to pursue dance for fun, enjoyment and wellbeing, as part of an active and healthy lifestyle.

What are the Course Fees?

Fees start from £429 per person. If you are a school, college or organisation working with young people, please get in touch to discuss your needs and get a
full quote.

Free and subsidised places are made available for individual young people aged 10-25 whenever possible. Please get in touch if you would like to discuss this.

Dance Leaders Level 1 From £429 per person

What more on the Course?

Dance Leaders Levels 1, 2 and 3 are hands-on, high energy courses where you will dance, learn and grow as a leader.

You will take part in a varied mix of workshops, training, teamwork and creative activities, hosted by G Expressions at the University of South Wales.

The course is led by our qualified Dance professionals who bring a wealth of experience across a range of contemporary dance styles, as well as experience leading their own classes and programmes.
